Twin Rocks, Orgeon
by Shawn Mullins

Written by: Mullins

I think this song is incredible.

~^~^~^~~^~^~^~~^~^~^~~^~^~^~~^~^~^~~^~^~^~~^~^~^~~^~^~^~~^~^~^~~^~^~^~
D/F#* G* D/F#* G*

D/F#* G* D/F#*
I met him on the cliffs on Twin Rocks, Oregon,
         G* D/F#*
He was sittin' on his bedroll looking just like Richard Brautigan,
     G* A*
I thought he was an old man, he wasn't but 37.

D/F#* G* D/F#*
He said he'd been ridin' trains for 15 years,
          G* D/F#*
Drawin' portraits to keep his belly full of beer
         G* A*
And it looked to me like he'd died and missed the plane to Heaven.

D/F#* G* D/F#*
But he was a nice old guy, for a younger man
           G* D/F#*
He had a bottle of Mad Dog he held in his hand
          G* A*
That he waved around alot to make his point.

D/F#* G* D/F#*
And I listened as he told his tales
             G* D/F#*
Of wine and women and county jails
         G* A*
And we finished off that bottle and smoked a half a joint.

             D/F# G
And he said "I came here to watch the sun
D/F# G Bm
Disappear into the ocean
A G
Cause it's been years since I smelled this salty sea".
D/F# G
He turned his bottle up and down,
D/F# G Bm A
And I saw him lost and I saw him found.
                  G
He said "I don't know what I've been lookin' for...
       D/F#* G* D/F#* G* D/F#*
Maybe me..."

                    G* D/F#*
Well, I told him I too had been travelin' around,
        G* D/F#*
Livin' out of my van from town to town,
G* A* D/F#*
Playin' for tips and whatever records I could move.
                 G* D/F#*
I said "I don't reckon I'll be makin' it big,
               G* D/F#*
You know it's hard to get rich off a tour of coffee house gigs"
             G* A*
And he said "Yeah, but ain't it a blessin' to do what you wanna do?"

                 D/F# G
And I told him "Yeah, I pulled off here to watch the sun
D/F# G Bm
Disappear into the ocean
A G
Cause it's been years since I smelled this salty sea".
        D/F# G
And he turned his bottle up and down,
 D/F# G Bm A
He saw me lost and he saw me found
               G
And I said "I don't know what I've been lookin' for...
          D/F#* G* D/F#* G* Em A Em (A string)--3-2--(A string)
Maybe me..."

D/F#* G* D/F#*
     I said "It's kinda late,
    G* D/F#*
Better be headin' down the interstate.
G* A* D/F#*
Can I give you a lift to San Francisco Bay?"
          G* D/F#*
He said "Nope, I think I'm just gonna sit here and rest,
           G* D/F#* G*
And maybe wait on the Tokyo-Montana Express...
                            A
I might just lay here and dream my life away.

           D/F# G
I'm gonna sit right here and watch that sun
D/F# G Bm
Disappear into the ocean
      A G
Cause it's been years since, it's been years.
           D/F# G
I'm gonna turn my bottle up and down,
         D/F# G Bm A G D/F#*
You can see me lost, you can see me found..."

G* D/F#*
I met him on the cliffs of Twin Rocks, Oregon,
        G* D/F#*
He was sittin' on his bedroll lookin' just like Richard Brautigan...
D/F#* G* D/F#* G* D/F#* G* D/F#
Just like him...

Ahh you rock. I was hoping someone had tabbed this song.

Is there a way to do it without the finger
picking or does it sound better this way??
