Norah Jones
Cold, Cold Heart

A
I tried so hard my dear to show that
                E7
you're my every dream yet you're afraid
                                   A
each thing I do is just some evil scheme
                                 A7
a memory from your lonesome past keeps us
        D
so far apart.

Chorus
    E E7
Why can't I free your doubtful mind and
                     A
melt your cold, cold heart.

2.
Another love before my time made your heart sad and blue
and so my heart is paying now for things I didn't do in anger
unkind words are said that make the
teardrops start why can't I free your doubtful mind and
melt your cold, cold heart.

3.
You'll never know how much it hurts to see you sit and cry
you know you need and want my love yet you're afraid to try
why do you run and hide from life to try it just just ain't smart
why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart.

4.
There was a time when I believed that you belonged to me
but now I know your heart is shackled to a memory
the more I learn to care for you the more we drift apart
why can't I free your doubtful mind and melt your cold, cold heart.

Let us not forget that Hank Williams penned this tearjerker before Nora Jones' cover. . . .

Hey im not saying that it was wrong. I was merely making a
suggestion. I thought it sounded more closer on the first fret. Im
not implying that you didnt know your songs. You did great by me.

That's right. Hank Williams wrote the song. I saw her on the
Johnny Cash show last night. She played "Home Of The Blues".
She sang it too slow, but she's an alright singer I guess.
She's quite the looker, I'll have to say so myself.
