CAPO ON 4TH
John Mellencamp Longest Days Lyrics
C G
Seems like once upon a time ago
C G
I was where I was supposed to be
C G
My vision was true and my heart was too
C D
There was no end to what I could dream
C G
I walked like a hero into the setting sun
C G
Everyone called out my name
C G
Death to me was just a mystery
C D
I was too busy raising up Cain
C G
But nothing lasts forever
C G
Your best efforts don't always pay
C
Sometimes you get sick
G
And don't get better
C
That's when life is short
D G
Even in its longest days
C G
So you pretend not to notice
C G
That everything has changed
C
The way that you look
G
And the friends you once had
C D
So you keep on acting the same
C G
But deep down in your soul
C G
You know you, you got no flame
C G
And who knows then which way to go
C D G
Life is short even in its longest days
C
All I got here
D
Is a rear view mirror
C D
Reflections of where I've been
C
So you tell yourself
G
I'll be back up on top some day
C
But you know there's nothing waiting up there
G
for you anyway
C G
Nothing lasts forever
C G
And your best efforts don't always pay
C
Sometimes you get sick
G
And you don't get better
C
That's when life is short
D G
Even in its longest days
C
THATS Life is short
D G
Even in its longest days

THIS IS THE FIRST TIME I HAVE POSTED SOOOO I AM SURE IT LEAVES ALLOT TO BE DESIRED......I'M KNOW PROFESSIONAL BY ANY MEANS. JUST A FRONT PORCH PICKER.........NOW WOULD SOMEBODY PLEASE CORD (IF I DIE SUDDEN) LOL......... -betterdays | 9/5/2008 | I'm gonna go ahead and post the version I came up with. I tabbed it out not realizing it was already up. You have it in the key of B, but I think it's actually in C#, with a capo on the 1st fret and played with a C progression. Maybe you were listening to a different version; some of these chords match up (albeit in a different key) with what I've got. -twizzle05 | 8/18/2010 | i like it .....but now i'm stuck on playing it the way i came up with ..but i think you are right. like i said i'm know pro. but i am a big mellencamp fan......have you tried to tab or chord if i die sudden.? -betterdays | 8/22/2010 | The way I see it, you can play a song however you want; I change chords/tempos/keys all the time. I'm not that good (and I can't sing worth a hoot), so it's kind of fun. I've looked at "If I Die Sudden;" I think it might be in a different tuning, in which case, it's way out of my league. I'll look into it again; I may be hearing it wrong. -twizzle05 | 8/22/2010 |
